Battery Impedance Testing

Accurate assessment of battery condition, performance, and reliability.

Battery Impedance Testing

Overview

What we do

One weak cell can take down a whole battery string during an outage. Impedance testing measures the internal condition of each battery so weak cells are replaced before you need them.

What’s included

  • Cell-by-cell impedance measurement
  • Voltage and connection checks
  • Trend comparison against previous tests
  • Report identifying weak or failing cells
  • Replacement recommendations and planning
  • Supply and installation of replacement batteries

Where it helps

  • UPS battery banks
  • Telecom site batteries
  • Data centers
  • Substations and DC systems
  • Hospitals and critical facilities

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is battery impedance testing?

It measures the internal resistance of each battery. Rising impedance is an early sign that a cell is aging or failing.

Do the batteries need to be disconnected?

No. Impedance testing is normally done with the batteries online and in service.

Why not just check the voltage?

A battery can show normal voltage and still fail when it has to carry the load. Impedance reveals internal condition that voltage alone does not.

How often should batteries be tested?

At least once or twice a year is common, and more often as batteries age. Comparing results over time gives the clearest picture of when to replace.
